
Dial Up Set up for Windows 98
Follow the directions on this page to set up dial
up properties in computers with Windows 98 Operating System in them.
1. Click on the "My Computer"
icon which is located on your desktop and a window like on the one below will come
up:

2. Click on the "Dial-Up
Networking" folder which is located in the "My Computer" window and a
window like the one in Figure 2 will come up. On your window, you will have "my
connection" highlighted for computer name. Delete it and type MegaByte OnLine. Then
Click "Next".

3. Enter our dial up access number in
the telephone number field of the "Make a New Connection" window like the
one in Figure 3.

Do not enter area code. Leave the area code field blank.
Click "Next."

4. Click "Finish" to save your
settings and close "Make New Connection" window.

5. After Step # 4 from above, you will
see the "MegaByte OnLine" icon. Right-click on the MegaByte OnLine icon and
select "Properties" and a window like the one in Figure 5 will come up:

6. Uncheck the option below the phone
number which says "Use area code and Dialing Properties" and click on the
"Server Types" tab

7. Under the "Server Type"
tab, uncheck all the options except "TCP/IP" and then click the
"OK" button.
8. You will now see the MegaByte OnLine
icon. Right-Click on the icon and select "Create Short-cut". You will be
prompted the following: "Windows cannot create a short-cut here! Would like the
Windows the put the short-cut on the Desktop?" Click "Yes" to put the
short-cut to MegaByte OnLine on your desktop.
9. Reboot the computer
10. Double-click on the "Short-cut
to MegaByte OnLine". Enter your username and enter your password. Then click on
the "Connect" button to get connected to the Internet. |
